Body of worker found
Sherpur: The body of a day labourer, who went missing as a boat capsized in the Old Brahmaputra River in Dakpara area of Sadar upazila on Thursday evening, was found dead in Sarifpur area of Jamalpur district yesterday morning, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified Shahidul Islam, 26, son of Bahadur Miah, a resident of Dighaldi Mollapara village in Charpakkhimari union.
Mostafizur Rahman, sub-inspector of Sherpur Sadar Police Station, said that the boat carrying 22 day labourers sank in the river due to stormy weather while they were returning from their workplace which left Shahidul Islam and Farid Hossain, 26, son of Yusuf Ali, missing.
Locals spotted Shahiduls body 6-km far from incident place 40 hours after the incident and informed police.
Later, police recovered the body.
Man electrocuted in Jessore
Jessore: A human hauler driver died from electrocution in Durgapur area of Sadar upazila on Friday night, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Md Sabuj Hossain, 30, son of Mizanur Rahman.
Victims wife Mira Khatun, said that her husband Sabuj was injured critically after he came in contact with a live electric wire while charging his human hauler (easy bike) at night. Later, he was rushed to Jessore General Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Septuagenarian woman drowns
Magura: A septuagenarian woman drowned in the Noboganga River at Shikundi village in Sadar upazila of the district on Friday, reports UNB.
Dulali Begum, 70, wife of Hamed Mollah, drowned due to strong current in the river while she was taking bath in the afternoon, said Ilius Hossain, office- in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
Later, locals recovered her floating body from Korchadanga ghat of the river at 5:00 pm.
The body was sent to Magura Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
An unnatural death case was filed.
