Two schoolgirls were killed after torture at Dakkhin Mastafapur village of Sadar upazila in Madaripur yesterday. Police have detained two people over the murders. The victims were identified as Sumaiya Akter, 16, daughter of Billal Sikder, and Happy, 15, daughter of Habib khan, both residents of Mostafapur village. Both the girls were students of class 8 of Mostafapur High School. Talking to journalists yesterday, victim Sumaiya’s father said the girls went missing while going to their school yesterday morning. After getting information from locals, he went to the hospital in the afternoon and found dead bodies of Sumaiya and Happy.
“I have a longstanding dispute over land with neighbour Alam Sikder,” said the victim’s father. “The two held over the murder, Rakib and Shipon, are sons of my rival Kalam Sikder and Kuddus Sikder. They had abducted my daughter and her friend and tortured them. They murdered the two girls by giving them poison,” he alleged.
Police came to the hospital after getting information and arrested two youths Rakib and Shipon who had brought the bodies there. Meanwhile, a case was filed on Wednesday with the Joydevpur Police Station alleging rape of a girl, a student of class 3, by a youth in Gazipur city on August 07.
The victim’s father, Babul Miah, filed a written complaint with the police as the girl fell ill and was admitted to Gazipur Shahid Taz Uddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital on Wednesday night. Victim’s father works as a mason’s helper and his wife is a housemaid. The couple, along with their daughter, is living in a rented house owned by Suruz Miah at Chapolia in Gazipur city for the last two years. Babul, in his complaint, claimed that on August 07, Ratin Khan, a son of house owner Suruz Miah, raped their daughter at a room in their house after the couple went out for work. Ratin also threatened the girl not to tell anyone about the incident. But the child informed this to her mother and later, the matter was taken to the landlord and neighbours. The landlord then assured to settle the matter mutually, but even after six days, they did not do anything about it. Moreover, the house owner is threatening the victim’s family members in different ways, he alleged.
