The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has advised the country’s maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Paira to hoist local cautionary signal number 3 following deep convection taking place at the Bay of Bengal yesterday.
The BMD has also asked the fishing trawlers and boats in the North Bay not to proceed to the deep sea and stay close to the coast negotiating the sea cautiously until further order as the sea has become choppy with squally winds blowing across due to the convection, Met Office sources said.
Meanwhile, a little rain was reported from different parts of the city yesterday afternoon that caught the commuters going back home after work unprepared to face it that left troubles for the people.
The drizzles broke out after the sky remained heavily overcast since morning. It followed after a little rain on Wednesday which washed away heat and humidity of the past few days. More such rain is expected as the Monsoon has become active brewing the convective clouds in the Bay, the met sources said.
