Kalabagan Krira Chakra clawed back to winning ways as they posted a comprehensive eight wickets win over Hillol Jubo Sangha in their fourth clash of the Dhaka Women’s Premier Division Cricket League at the BKSP-4 yesterday.
This was Kalabagan’s second victory off four outings. The newly-entrant team launched their DPL campaign with sorry note when they conceded defeat to Khelghar Samaj Kallyan Samity by six wickets as per the DLS system. Later they come back beating Mohammedan Sporting Club by eight wickets. But they lost to defending champions Rupali Bank Krira Parishad narrowly by two runs.
Opted to bat first, Hillol Jubo Sangha were bowled out for a measly 32 in 33.3 overs in the wake of venomous bowling onslaught from Shaila Sharmin and Panna Ghosh. Both Shaila and Panna evenly shared six wickets between them. Shaila gave away seven runs in seven over to take her stake, while Panna conceded just five runs in 6.3 overs to take her match tally.
Only captain Tanjila Akhter Mou surpassed double figure mark for Jubo Sangha. She slammed 20 off 92 with one boundary. Six batsmen among them made just duck but one remained unbeaten on zero.
In reply, Kalabagan Krira Chakra run down the paltry target in just 7.1 overs with Shaila Sharmin making 14. Shaila’s unbeaten a run-a-ball 14 that emblazoned with three boundaries. Later she was named for the player of the match award. Kalabagan’s foreign recruit Lasanthi Madinage fell for seven. Sultana Khatun was five not out.
Mim Akhter and Nairry Thapa snared one wicket each for the losing side.
Elsewhere at the BKSP-3, the match between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothisthan (BKSP) was abandoned due to the rains.
Mohammedan decided to bat after winning the toss on BKSP deck and piled up 173 for seven in 50 overs courtesy of I Mandiz’s fifty-plus score. MSC foreign recruit Mandiz clouted 98-ball 60 with seven fours before being trapped lbw by Murshida Khatun Happy, who later added another wicket to her wicket tally.
Taj Naher (30), Farzana Haque (23), Priyanka Mollick (16), Sharmin Sultana (14 not out) and Salma Khatun (12) were the other notable scorers of the Mohammedan.
Jannatul Ferdous also picked up two wickets for BKSP.
The rain started after the end of the Mohammedan innings at 1:26pm. Then the play could not restart due to the rains and wet field condition. Finally the match umpires called off the match at 4:00pm.
