Dhaka stocks close week down

Stocks finished the week yesterday downward with falling trend of major indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges on lower transactions, reports BSS.
The boarder DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the week with 77.64 points down at 6,092.84. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 19.92 points down at 2,177.62 and 16.03 points down at 1,345.86.
The daily average trade value at DSE was 43.60 per cent down at Tk 6,887.18 crore and the trade volume was 46.99 per cent up at 22.48 crore shares.
Out of the 335 traded securities, 58 closed higher against 261 losing issues when 15 remained unchanged.
During the week, the top five gainers were Dutch Bangla Bank, BBS Cables, Mercantile Insurance, Shahjalal Islami Bank and Jamuna Bank. The five major losing companies were RN Spinning, Fareast Islami Life Insurance, Western Marine Shipyard, Meghna Pet Industries and Northern Jute Manufacturing Company.
The top five turnover leaders were Shahjalal Islami Bank, Uttara Bank, National Bank, Jamuna Bank and Export Import (Exim) Bank of Bangladesh. Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week with downward with its major CASPI index ending 272.34 points lower at 18,881.60.
Like DSE, most of the issues traded here closed lower when both the trade value and volume of shares decreased.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed on Wednesday with 24.95 points down at 6,079.32. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 5.19 points down at 1,350.27 and with 4.68 points down at 2,178.05. The daily trade at DSE increased to 24.63 crore shares from Tuesdays 22.71 crore shares and the days trade value at DSE rose to Tk 775.34 crore from Tk 715.22 crore of the previous session.
