Speaker Shirin meets president

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Thursday made a courtesy call on President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban, reports UNB.

During the meeting, the Speaker apprised the president of the preparation and activities of the upcoming 63rd Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) conference scheduled to be held here during the November 1-8 next.

Dr Shirin, also the CPA chairperson, informed him about different development activities of Bangladesh Parliament, including the Parliament Library.

President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.

President Hamid said Bangladesh Parliament successfully arranged the Inter-parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly here in April last.

He hoped that the upcoming CPA conference will also be held successfully here, which will brighten the country's image abroad.
