Mohammad Rokunuzzaman, the Mayor of Sarishabari Poursava was admitted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) after he was recovered from Srimangal, MaulviBazar on Wednesday and brought to the capital by the police.
He was first taken to the Detective Branch office of the DMP then taken to the DMCH.
The police said, the mayor told them he was taken aboard a micro-bus after he went out of his business - cum-residence at Uttara, Sector 13 on Monday for taking a walk at a park there.
Since there was no information as his cell phone was switched off and his family went to Uttara West Thana police and reported him missing, the police said.
The police said, the mayor was recovered from in front of Kalighat UP office of Srimangal Upazila of Maulvibazar on Wednesday looking traumatised claiming that he was abducted by unidentified people, who hauled him in to a micro-bus blindfolded and he was unable to identify any one of them, he told the police in his primary statement.
On Wednesday he was dropped blindfolded before the UP office from a black micro- bus.
The police said, Mayor Rokunzzaman would be handed back to his family after necessary questioning.
A police officer from Uttara West Thana has gone to the DMCH for that. His family members also went there.
