More Chinese relief for Rohingyas arrives
700-tonne Indian relief reaches Ctg port

CHITTAGONG: The second consignment of Chinas relief for the Rohingya refugees, who have fled to Bangladesh amid persecution in Myanmars Rakhine State since August 25, arrived here yesterday, reports UNB.
A cargo flight of China with 53.50 tonnes of relief materials, including 2,000 pieces of tents and 3,000 pieces of blankets, arrived at Shah Amanat International Airport in the morning.
Md Zillur Rahman Chowdhury, deputy commissioner of Chittagong, received the relief items from Chinese Embassy Economic and Commercial Counsellor Li Guangjun at around 9:30 am.
Habibur Rahman, additional deputy commissioner, said China has sent 110 tonnes of relief materials for the Rohingya refugees, who have taken shelter in Bangladesh, in two phases.
The relief will be distributed among Rohingyas in Ukhiya refugee camp through Cox Bazar district administration, Habibur added.
Another report adds: An Indian Naval ship carrying the third consignment of 700-tonne relief supply for Rohingya Muslims, who have fled persecution by Myanmar security forces and taken shelter in Bangladesh, reached Chittagong early Thursday.
The relief materials, loaded on Indian Naval Ship INS Gharial arrived at Chittagong port early in the morning.
Zillur Rahman Chowdhury, deputy commissioner of Chittagong, said the Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Harsh Vardhan Shringla, handed over the relief materials to the local administration officially at the jetty No-1 of the port.
The relief materials include rice, pulses, sugar, salt, cooking oil, ready to eat noodles, tea, biscuits, mosquito nets etc.
India will send a total of 7,000 tonnes of relief materials for about 300,000 refugees or about 70,000 families.
