Shariatpur: A court here on Wednesday sent a physician to jail in a case filed in connection with the deaths of a woman and her child, allegedly due to wrong treatment, reports UNB.
Shariatpur Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Sheikh Muzahidul Islam passed the order after rejecting his bail petition in the case.
Earlier in the day, advocate Tajul Islam, lawyer of the accused Dr. MA Daud filed a petition for his bail before the court.
According to case statement, Rama Begum, 28, a pregnant woman and wife of Milon Talukdar of Tulasar village in Shariatpur municipality area got admitted to Shariatpur Nursing Home with stomach ache on August 2.
With the patient not feeling well, Milon decided to shift her to another hospital for better treatment but the chairman of the nursing home, also the accused, confiscated the patient and tried to perform a surgery.
Later, the physician, actually an eye specialist, pushed an injection into Rama Begum. She died later.
Protesting the incident, the patient’s relatives besieged the clinic and vandalised the clinic.
On information, police went to the spot and put the main gate of the clinic under lock and key.
Milon then filed a case with Palong Model Police Station.
