Defeated forces of 71 out to destabilise country: Speakers

BSS

Speakers at a discussion on the 40th martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman said the defeated forces of 1971 are trying to raise their heads high to destabilize the country and destroy peace and progress, reports BSS. These anti-liberation forces have again been hatching conspiracies at a time when Bangladesh under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is progressing fast and moving towards implementation of Digital Bangladesh, they told at a function organised by Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division at Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) auditorium yesterday, reports BSS. Chaired by ICT Division Secretary Shyam Sunder Sikder, the function was addressed, among others, by State Minister for Post and Telecommunications Tarana Halim, State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) chairman Sunil  Kanti Bose, BCC Executive Director S M Asraful Islam.
Tarana Halim said those who killed Bangabandhu had tried to erase the
name of the Father of the Nation from
the history and reversed the wheels of development, but failed.
Describing the heinous acts of the post ‘75 government, she said General Ziaur Rahman promulgated indemnity ordinance to protect the killers of Bangabandhu and burry the rule of law.
“He (Zia) is the man, who introduced culture of impunity through proclaiming the indemnity ordinance,” Tarana said, adding, the government of Sheikh Hasina established the rule of law by repealing the indemnity ordinance.
“Joy Bangla and Joy Bangabandhu are inseparable, but someone says only Joy Bangla discarding Joy Bangabandhu. This is not acceptable and must stop,” she said urging the government employees to uphold the image and dignity of Bangabandhu.
Narrating the arduous movement for long 23 years by Bangabandhu, the state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak said Bangabandhu had struggled to free the people from the shackles of Pakistani autocratic regime which had exploited the people of the then East Pakistan.
He (Bangabandhu) led the democratic movement and turned it into an armed revolution that continued for nine months and Bangladesh emerged as an independent country at the cost of the lives of three million people, Palak said. He further said in the independent Bangladesh we got two visionary leaders—Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and her daughter Sheikh Hasina.
“Bangabandhu gave us a vision to turn Bangladesh into a Golden Bangla and her daughter Sheikh Hasina’s vision was to build Digital Bangladesh for turning it as a middle income country by 2021,” he said.
