bKash official mugged
OUR CORRESPONDENT, Manikganj

Unidentified armed muggers shot a bKash official and snatched Tk 2,92,000 from his possession in broad daylight at Gilondo Bazar of Manikganj Sadar yesterday.
A rickshaw-puller was also shot in his right leg when he came forward to resist them.
The bKash official, Moin Biswas, 22, of Kowri village in Harirampur upazila, and the rickshaw-puller Mojnu Mia, 40, of Joynagar village in Manikganj Sadar have been admitted to Manikganj Sadar Hospital.
Quoting the locals and the victims, officer-in-charge of Sadar police station Aminur Rahman said bKash sales representative Moin Biswas was sitting in front of ‘G Satellite Telicom’, a shop at the bazaar. Three youths came out of a car parked nearby, shot him and looted Tk 2,92,000 from his possession. The robbers also shot the rickshaw-puller Mojnu Mia when he tried to resist them, the OC said.
 Dr Mehtab Uddin Ahmed at the hospital said Moin received bullet in his left leg and Mojnu was hit in his right leg. They were taken to operation theatre to bring out the bullet from the legs, he said.
The snatchers had managed to escape the scene without any resistance.  Senior Assistant Police Superintendent of Manikganj Sadar Circle AM Kamrul Islam PPM said police is trying to arrest the criminals.


Edn equipment distributed
OUR CORRESPONDENT, Chapainawabganj

Chapainawabganj sadar upazila parishad under Annual Development Programme (2014-2015) of the upazila distributed educational equipment among 14 educational institutions yesterday. The materials that were distributed included 14 laptops, 14 multimedia projectors, 14 multimedia screens, 14 sound-systems, 175 benches, 33 shilling fans, 142 footballs and 30 volleyballs with nets. The materials were distributed. Lawmaker Md Abdul Wadud distributed the materials as chief guest at a function arranged on the occasion at the conference room of the upazila parishad.
BSS reports from Rangamati:A total of 61 secondary schools out of 125 have been brought under digital system in 10 upazilas of the district, reports BSS.
District education officer Golzar Ahmed Khan said the schools were provided laptops, multimedia projectors and related logistic supports to run the multimedia classroom. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Shamsul Arefein said all institutions of secondary discipline will be brought under the system in the district ensuring regular sufficient electric supply and high speed internet service.


Seized current nets burnt

A mobile court seized nine current nets from Benaibeel in Madhupur upazila yesterday morning. The seized nets were burnt in front of officers and local people. Sources said acting on a tip-off, mobile court led by executive magistrate and UNO of  Madhupur Muktadir Aziz raided Benaibeel area in Madhupur upazila and seized nine current nets measuring 943 metres each. Some dishonest fishermen have been fishing in the water body with the help of current nets for a long time and catching even fish fry.
