Rokonuzzaman Rokon, mayor of Sarishabari municipality in Jamalpur who reportedly went missing from the capital on September 25, was rescued from a tea estate in Kalighat area of Srimangal upazila yesterday, reports UNB.
Police rescued Rokon around 1:15pm, said police super Mohammad Shahjalal at a press briefing at his office in the afternoon.
He said some unidentified people took the mayor to the tea garden where they left him blindfolded.
Local people informed the matter to police who rescued him and took him to the SP office.
Dr Ahmed Mohammad Shibli, medical officer at Srimangal Health Complex, said they found no unusual sign on the body of Rokon although he is physically weak.
Rokon, also an Awami League leader, posted a status on his Facebook account apprehending for his life and he went missing from in front of his residence at Uttara-13 in the capital on Monday morning.
