Even though Mashrafe Bin Mortaza will not play in Test cricket in South Africa, Bangladesh one-day captain expects that Mushfiqur Rahim led Bangladesh team will fare well against the top-flight Proteas in Test series.
Mashrafe expressed his optimism while he inaugurated a cricket tournament for the physically-challenged cricketers sponsored by BPL franchisee Rangpur Riders in Rangpur yesterday.
“Bangladesh have been playing better cricket in Test after one day cricket. It has been started since England series last year. Therefore, we played in New Zealand, India and Sri Lanka and then against Australia at home turf,” said Mashrafe Bin Mortaza.
“Now our team went to South Africa for a full series. Test series will start today. Hopefully the team will do better against South Africa also,” Mashrafe said.
Mashrafe will join the Tigers tent in South Africa before the end of the second and last Test of the two-match Test series.
Bangladesh team will return home from South Africa on October 29 after the conclusion of their month-long tour, which will be wrapped up with Twenty20. Then they will full-fledgedly get down for the BPL mission.
The paceman this time will play for Rangpur Riders, who already announced him as their capatin. He won BPL title three times for Dhaka and Comilla Vikings. He said that Rangpur Riders formed a good team. Hopefully they could present better brand of cricket in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). For this he seeks blessings from the Rangpur people
He urges all to come forward to helping these physically-challenged people, stating that they should not disregard them.
“We should not neglect considering them as physically challenged people of the society. They could also keep their contribution to all the stratum of the society. For this we have to take their responsibility,” Mashrafe, who is also a BPL icon player beside Shakib Al Hasan (Dhaka Dynamites), Mushfiqur Rahim (Rajshahi Kings), Tamim Iqbal (Comilla Victorians), Mahmudullah Riyad (Khulna Vikings), Sabbir Rahman (Sylhet Sixers) and Soumya Sarkar (Chittagong Vikings).
He also said that he is working for them so that they could get more inspiration to play cricket and keep their contribution though it’s a bit to the society along with the country.
“We’re working for the physically-challenged people to give them inspiration further. Hopefully they will do better more in the next Physically Challenged World Cup Cricket,” the 32-year-old pacer said.
