DU declares 11-day holiday
Dhaka University (DU) declared an 11-day vacation from September 27 on the occasion of Durga Puja, Ashura and Laxmi Puja.
All classes and examinations will remain closed till October 5 while the administrative activities will take place as usual during the vacation, Nur-e-Islam, public relation office (PRO) of DU, said today.
The classes will resume on October 8, he added.
Seminar on “Project of JU Business Studies Faculty” held
SAVAR: A seminar on “Project of Business Studies
Faculty of Jahangirnagar University (JU)” was held on Tueday at the seminar room of the faculty at JU campus here.
Vice-chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Farzana Islam inaugurated the seminar as the chief guest while Pro-VC Prof Dr Abul Hossain (Academic) and Treasurer Prof Sheikh Monjurul Huq addressed it as special guests.
Addressing the programme, the VC said, “Business Studies Faculty is playing important role to increase reputation of the university by maintaining international standard on their outstanding research.”
Dean of JU Business Studies Faculty Nilanzan Kumar Saha presided over the seminar. Teachers of the faculty presented their research projects at the programme which was conducted by the faculty’s own financial assistance.
Voluntary blood donation program at IUB
The Division of Student Affairs (DoSA) of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) in association with Quantum Foundation organised 2-day long voluntary blood donation programme at IUB Campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka from September 25-26, 2017, says a press release.
Prof M Omar Rahman, Vice-chancellor of IUB, inaugurated the programme as the chief guest. A total number of 235 bags of blood of different groups had been collected during the programme. All collected blood was given free to the patients after being tested by the experts. The blood donors were also given free blood test reports.
Commemorative meeting held at AIUB
The 5th death anniversary of Dr. Anwarul Abedin, founder chairman-, American International University – Bangladesh (AIUB) was observed recently, says a press release.
Doa Mahfil was organised followed by a discussion meeting remembering his life on the permanent campuses of AIUB. He is remembered by his son Dr Hasanul A. Hasan (Treasurer, Vice President HRD, & Admin) and daughter Mrs. Nadia Anwar, Vice President (Students Affairs) and Pro-vice chancellor Dr Charles C Villanueva highlighting lifelong activities about AIUB. At the beginning of the ceremony teachers and officers of all classes of AIUB placed a wreath at his portrait. After the ceremony, the Doa Mahfil was arranged for the peace and forgiveness of the departed souls.
Admission Festival begins at Seu
Southeast University (SEU) organised an Admission Festival for Fall Semester 2017 from 24 September to 28 September at the Seminar Hall of the main building, SEU, Banani, Dhaka, says a press release.
Prof Dr ANM Meshquat Uddin, Vice-chancellor of SEU inaugurated the programme. .M Kamaluddin Chowdhury, representative member of BOT, SEU Trust, Maj Gen Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed, SPP, psc (Retd), Registrar of SEU, Prof Dr Md Abdul Hakim, Dean, School of Arts & Social Sciences were present at the event. Directors, Chairmen and faculty members of different departments were also present.
DU alumni association to celebrate 69th anniv Oct 1
Dhaka University Alumni Association (DUAA) is going to celebrate its 69th founding anniversary on October 1 on the campus.
Addressing a press conference at Alumni Floor of Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban, DUAA President AK Azad disclosed this yesterday and said the main programme marking the anniversary will be held at the Alumni Floor. Finance Minister and former DUAA president Abul Maal Abdul Muhith will be present at the function as the chief guest while DU Vice-chancellor Md Akhtaruzzaman will attend as the special guest, Azad said.
DUAA Vice president Munira Khan, General Secretary Ranjan Karmakar and Mass Communication and Journalism Department Professor Dr Shaikh Abdus Salam were present at the press conference, among others. Six Emeritus Professors of the University and DUAA founding president will be conferred DUAA Gold Medal-2017 at the function, DUAA president said. Independent/agency
