CHITTAGONG: Japanese Red Cross Society on Monday sent over 18 tonnes of medical equipment to established a medical centre for Rohingya refugees who have taken shelter in Bangladesh amid persecution by Myanmar security forces in their country, reports UNB.
A cargo aircraft carrying those equipments arrived at Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport on Monday.
Later Japan Red Cross officers Takafumi Yamada and Kensuke Kaiwai handed over the equipments to Md Habibur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) of Chittagong.
Habibur Rahman said the medical equipment will be sent to Cox’s Bazar to establish a medical center for Rohingyas.
Among others Nippon Express Bangladesh Ltd vice-president Kazuhiro Zobawakaowa, Abdul Jabbar, secretary of Chittagong unit of the Red Cross were also present at this time.
