A 3 mm of rainfall yesterday morning brought some relief to city folks reeling under searing heat and high humidity for the past few days.
The Met office in Agargaon said the rain around 10am varied in intensity and took people by surprise, inconveniencing those travelling without umbrellas.
However, the showers accompanied by winds brought down the humidity level and made the afternoon pleasant, witnesses said.
With the monsoon becoming fairly active again, more such rain is expected today, Bazlur Rashid, a meteorologist told The Independent yesterday. The rest of the country, however, did not have much rainfall barring the southern island of Hatiya that recorded 55mm, followed by Comilla (16mm), Chittagong (2mm) and Srimangal (7mm). Today’s rainfall is likely to be more in the south-west, Rashid added.
