151 to vie for each seat at JU

The admission test for the first year honours courses of Jahangirngar University (JU) under academic sessions 2017-18 will be started from October 8 that will continue till October 18.  

Breaking all previous records, a total of 2,99,171 students have applied against 1986 seats under 6 faculties and 3 institutes in this year, sources of Admission Management Committee said.  

Among the faculties, the largest numbers of applications were submitted at the biological science faculty under D unit while 77,728 students will compete against 367 seats.

At Physical and Mathematical Science Faculty (A Unit), 66,341 candidates will compete against 435 seats.

At the Arts and Humanities Faculty (C Unit), 27,671 applicants against 336 seats, Social Science Faculty (B unit), 44,054 applicants against 452 seats, In Business Studies Faculty (E Unit), 19,092 applicants against 200 seats and in Law and Justice Faculty (F Unit), 25,987 candidates will compete against 60 seats, sources of Admission Management Committee said.

Among the institutes, the largest numbers of applications were submitted at the Institute of Information and Technology (H Unit) while a total of 22,005 candidates will vie for 56 seats.

Moreover, in Institute of Business Administration (G Unit), 10,700 candidates will compete against 50 seats while a total of 5,593 will vie against 30 seats at the newly founded Bangabandhu Institute of Comparative Literature and Culture (I Unit).  

A total of 151 will vie for each seat at the upcoming entry test of the university, Member of the Admission Management Committee and also the Director of Institute of Information and Technology A K M Akkas Ali told The Independent yesterday.  Institute of Information and Technology of the university conducted the online registration process in this year with its own technologies and manpower. We are happy to end the registration admission process successfully, he added.

Earlier, the online registration process for the admission test was started on August 21 that was continued till September 20.
