A five-day photography exhibition titled ‘Different Images of Men’, organised by ActionAid Bangladesh, is set to begin on September 30 at the Drik Gallery in the capital’s Dhanmondi area. The photography competition and exhibition will depict men looking after their family members by providing childcare, elderly and disabled care. The objective is to showcase men taking part in Unpaid Care Work.
ActionAid Bangladesh launched the photography competition earlier this year to exhibit and encourage men to be engaged in household care work and received overwhelming response from all over the country. A jury later selected the winners from 310 photographs submitted by 68 photographers. The photographs addressed the issues of family relationships, class and shifting gender roles in innovative ways to speak to larger national topics of changing demographics, care work, migration and change family structures in our society.
The results will be announced at the inauguration of the photography exhibition on September 30. Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith is expected to inaugurate the exhibition as the chief guest.
The exhibition will remain open to all every day from 3pm to 8pm until October 4.
