68 will vie for each RU seat

Around 68 candidates will vie in the enrollment test of the second largest public university, the University of Rajshahi (RU) for the first year honours courses under the academic session 2017-18 which will start from October 22 and continue till 26.

A total of 3,16,120 admission seekers registered  through the online against 4,636 seats under 59 departments of nine faculties and two institutes this year, said Prof Dr Khademul Islam Molla, head of RU ICT centre of the campus on Monday.

In the A-unit test 33,680 candidates will compete against 941 seats while B-unit test 17,997 candidates will compete against 160 seats.

Around 49,174 applicants have applied to take part in the C unit admission test with 660 seats available while around 22,526 candidates will vie for 470 seats for D-unit. E unit test, 2441,232 candidates will vie for 745 while F-unit test, 39,934 candidates will vie for 435 seats.

In the G unit test 28,783 students will fight for each for the 212 seats while in H unit test 39,626 candidates against 272 seats and in the I-unit test 2318 aspirants will vie for 120 seats. On the other hand 13,642 candidates will vie against 50 seats under Institute Business Institution (IBA) and 11,642 candidates will vie for 50 seats for Institute of Education and Research.

Last year, 1, 78,949 students vied for 4,713 seats under nine units and two institutes.

Of total seats, 417 will be preserved for indigenous students, physically challenged students, son-daughter of freedom fighters, and son-daughter of teachers-officials respectively as well. According to official sources, the registration process was started on September 10 that ended on September 24 at 12 pm.

Successful candidates will get their admit cards on October 7 to October 11 to attend the intake test through download from the university website (admission.ru.ac.bd).

Meanwhile, the varsity authorities have adopted some special measures including restriction on plying of motor vehicles for the sake of maintaining peaceful situation during holding the test in the campus. No one will be allowed to enter the campus with bags. Only the admission-seekers will be allowed to the academic buildings. Carrying and using of electronic devises including mobile phone will be totally prohibited in the examination halls.
