Human chain formed

A group of students and teachers of Rajshahai University (RU) formed a human chain on the campus yesterday protesting alleged attack on a teacher of the university by a student on Monday.
Besides, a section of teachers submitted a memorandum to pro vice chancellor and treasurer respectively seeking punishment and demanding to form a probe body to investigate into the matter.
However, the victim teacher filed a case yesterday with Motihar Police Station and university authorities also will file a case, sources said.
Various political, cultural, social and journalist organisations condemned the atatck and RU Teachers Association also called an emergency meeting yesterday centring the incident, Prof Rohul Amin, secretary of the organisation said.
The human chain was formed around 10am in front of the Institute of Business Administration (IBBA) Bhaban where more than hundreds students and teachers were present. IBA first batch student Safikul Islam conducted it where 2nd batch student Faisal Hasan, Hasib, and Bibak Mur, among others, addressed the programme and Director Prof Dr Rafiqul Islam presided it. Later, they submitted a memorandum to IBA director.
On the other hand, RU teachers led by Economics dept Prof Dr KBM Mahbubur Rahman submitted a memorandum to the university pro vice chancellor Prof Dr Ananda Kumar Shaha and Treasurer Prof Dr Mostafizur Rahman respectively around 11am on the campus. RU MBA student Nahid Raihan on Monday allegedly assaulted Dr Hasnat Ali, a Professor of Institute of Business of the university over signing an internship paper.
