“World Pharmacists Day” celebrated at NSU
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, North South University (NSU), celebrated ‘World Pharmacists Day 2017’ yesterday.The theme for this year was “From Research to Healthcare: Your Pharmacist is at your service ”, says a press release.
A colorful rally was held on the campus by the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, NSU, in association with North South University Pharmaceutical Club (NSUPSC). Md Shajahan, Chairman Board of Trustees, graced the event with his presence and inaugurated the rally along with Professor G U Ahsan, Pro-vice chancellor (Designate), Dr Hasan Mahmud Reza, Chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences(DPS) and Ms. Nusrat Hossain, Faculty Adviser, Pharmaceutical Club, NSU orchestrated the event.
JU goes on 10-day vacation from today
Jahangirnagar University is going to a 10-day vacation from September 26 on the occasion of Durga Puja, Ashura and Laxmi Puja.
All classes and examinations will remain closed till October 5 while administrative activities will remain closed from September 28 to October 1 and October 5.
JU Registrar Abu Bakr Siddique said over phone yesterday. Abu Bakr Siddique said, ‘All types academic and administrative activities will resume on October 8 while the admission test will start from that day’. ‘The dormitory of the university will not to be closed during the vacation’, he added.
DU VC accorded reception
An association of former students of Islamic History and Culture Department at Dhaka University (DU) accorded a reception to the newly-appointed Vice-Chancellor of the university Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman.
President of the association Professor Najma Khan Mojlish presided over the function held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on the campus, said a DU release here yesterday. General Secretary of the association Shabnam Shahanaz Chowdhury Dipa gave the welcome speech at the function while Professor Md Siddiquer Rahman Khan, Professor Dr Md Ibrahim, AKM Khadamul Haque and Md Abdur Rahim of the department spoke at the function, among others, the release added.
Assistant Professor of Islamic History and Culture Department Mahmudur Rahman conducted the event, the release further added.
2-day cultural festival ends at BUP
A two-day Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) Cultural Fest-2017 ended on the university campus at Mirpur Cantonment in the capital on Saturday.
The final round of the festival was held at Bijoy Auditorium on the campus, said a BUP press release here. BUP Cultural Club organised the festival under the supervision of Disaster and Human Security Management (DHSM) of the Arts and Social Sciences Faculty of the university, the release added. Jahangirnagar University became the champion while BUP secured first runner-up and Armed Forces Medical College secured became second runner-up in the festival. BUP Vice Chancellor Maj Gen Md Salahuddin Miaji addressed the concluding ceremony of the event as the chief guest and distributed prizes among the winners. BUP teachers, officers, students, and senior officials of the university were present at the function, among others.
IU to launch 8 new departments
The authorities of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia will launch another 8 subjects from this academic year 2017-18 after getting the final approval of University Grant Commission (UGC) soon. To launch the departments, a 3-member UGC delegation team visited the university on Thursday headed by Professor Dr M Shah Nowaz Ali, member of UGC.
The proposed departments are Law & Land Management, Development Studies, Social Welfare, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmacy, Environmental Science & Geography, Human Resource Management and Tourism & Hospitality Management. IU vice chancellor Prof Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari said another 560 students will get opportunities to admit into the university after launching the departments.
