Four children, including two sisters, drowned in Satkhira Kishoreganj districts yesterday, reports UNB.
In Satkhira, two minor sisters met their watery burial in a pond near Bhomra land port in Sadar upazila at noon.
The deceased are Ima Khatun, 4, and her sister Ruma Khatun, 3, daughters of Rabiul Islam of Bhomra Paschimpara area.
Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Maruf Ahmed said the siblings were playing near the pond and later their bodies were found floating in the pond.
In Kishoreganj, two children—Marufa Aktar, 5, daughter of Dhara Mi,a and Papiya, 6, daughter of Asmat Ali of Mollapara—drowned in the Dhanu River in Itna upazila at noon.
Locals said the duo along with other children went to take their bath at Masjidghat point of the river. At one stage, they drowned.
Locals rescued the girls and took them to the upazila health complex where the on-duly doctor declared them dead.
