PTI, Chennai: A weak trend prevailed in the wholesale foodgrains market in Chennai, India with prices of a majority of commodities declining during the week ended Saturday.
Thoor dal, urad dal, gram dal, sugar and maida ruled easy while price of moong dal increased.
Thoor dal and urad dal opened the week at Rs 7,600 and Rs 8,400, lower by Rs 200 per quintal from Rs 7,800 and Rs 8,600 respectively and closed the week at the same rates.
Gram dal fell sharply on Monday by Rs 400 per quintal to Rs 7,600 from its previous week closing rate of Rs 8,000 but ruled unchanged thereafter till the weekend.
Sugar shed Rs 30 per quintal to Rs 4,050 from previous close of Rs 4,080 and ended the week at the same rate.
Maida (90 kgs) fetched a price of Rs 2,600, a drop of Rs 100 from last week’s closing of Rs 2,700.
