DU Cha-unit drawing test held
The drawing test for admission to Fine Arts faculty for the academic session 2017-2018 under ‘Cha-unit’ of Dhaka University (DU) was held yesterday peacefully.
DU Vice-chancellor Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and coordinator of Cha-unit admission test Professor Nisar Hossain and senior teachers and officers of the university visited the examination hall during the test, said a DU press release in Dhaka.  A total of 1,552 students was sit for the examination against 135 seats while the one-hour test was held between 10am and 11:30am, it added.
The written test (general knowledge) of ‘Cha-Unit’ under Fine Arts Faculty was held on September 16, it continued.

5-day long- symposium begins at UIU
A 5-day long 1st IBRO-APRC Bangladesh Associate School of Translational Neuroscience and Research and BRAIN Symposium began yesterday at the United International University (UIU), says a press release.
Prof. Kanak Kanti Barua, Professor, Neurosurgery Department, BSMMU, and President, Bangladesh Society of Neurosurgeons and Prof Tipu Z Aziz, Professor of Neurosurgery, University of Oxford, UK were present as the distinguished guests.
The event was organised by AIMS lab,  Dept. of CSE, UIU.
The workshop consists of fourteen lectures, two live demonstrations, three discussions, and one mini conference.  The aim of the workshop is to provide a platform for students (from Bangladesh and the Asia-Pacific region) interested in the field of neuroscience to expand their understanding of basic neuroscience and neural engineering, and translate this knowledge into clinical neuroscience for research and development of novel therapies for intervention and rehabilitation of neural disorders.

BOU silver jubilee on Oct 21
Silver Jubilee Programme of Bangladesh Open University (BOU) will be held on October 21 on its 11 Regional Center and its main campus, Gazipur, says a press release.
The day long programme contains a colourfull rally with its present and former learners, co-ordinator, tutors, teachers, officers and employees, discussion session, presentation ceremony and cultural programme.
Present and former students are requested to enrolled their registration on-line by paying taka seven hundred on first come first serve for the first two hundre person.
 In Gazipur campus two thousand students can enrolled themselves through on-line.  T-shirt, cap and programme publication will be delivered among the participants.
Students are requested for early registration.

International Peace Day observed at DIS
Students of Daffodil International School (DIS) observed International Peace Day 2017 on Thursday, says a press release.
They formed a human chain in front of Daffodil Tower with placard, banner and festoon at Sobhanbag, Dhanmondi marking the day.  The students presented many segments like solo speech, acting and presenting video documentary on projector at 71 Milonayoton of Daffodil Tower.  Dr Mohammad Mahmudul Hasan, adviser, Daffodil International School said that children are our future leader.  So that we have to encourage them to raise their voice In favor of peace if we want to build a peaceful world.

Reunion of JU Geography dept held
The reunion of Geography and Environment department was held at the Jahangirngar University campus on Friday amid festivity.
Geography and Environment department of the university in association with Geography Alumni Association organised the programme at the Zahir Raihan Auditorium on campus.
JU Treasurer Professor Sheikh Monjurul Huq addressed the function as chief guest while convener of the reunion programme Mezbah Uddin Tuhin presided it. Earlier, the events of the reunion programme were started by a tree plantation campaign at the Tarzan Point on the campus about at 3.00 pm that was inaugurated by JU Vice Chancellor Professor Farzana Islam as chief guest.
