KUET celebrates 14th founding anniversary

KHULNA: Students, teachers and employees of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) celebrated its 14th founding anniversary on Satueday with much fanfare and festivity on the campus, reports BSS.

On the occasion, the university authorities have chalked out day-long programmes to celebrate the day.

Chairman of Bangladesh University Grants Commission Professor Abdul Mannan attended the function as the chief guest with Vice-Chancellor of KUET Professor Dr Muhammed Alamgir in the chair.

The key buildings of the university will be decorated with colourful lights on the occasion.

In 1967, the institution was established as Khulna Engineering College on 101 acres of land but the academic activities started on June 3 in 1974, with 120 students under three departments at the special direction of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

However, it was upgraded as Bangladesh Institute of Technology (BIT) in 1986 and was converted to Khulna University of Engineering & Technology on September 1 in 2003.
