Bangladesh will begin their campaign in the AFC Under-16 qualifying round from today with taking on Yemen at the Grand Hamad Stadium, Doha.
Bangladesh, who were drawn in the Group E along with the United Arab Emirate (UAE), Yemen and the host Qatar, were scheduled to start the competition from Wednesday with taking on UAE.
But the UAE withdrew their name from the competition due to crisis of diplomatic relationship with Qatar, so Bangladesh will play their first match against Yemen while their matches also reduced.
However, Bangladesh national Under-16 football team is ready to take on the Yemen, the strongest side in the Group E, who drubbed the host Qatar by 6-1 in their opener.
But the Bangladesh’s boys are mentally and physically fit to take the Yemen challenge, as the team’s coach Mostafa Anwar Pervej in the pre match press conference in Qatar said yesterday.
Pervej, the former national booter said, “Today (Thursday) we had a nice practice session for one and half an hour. Everybody is physically and mentally okay. We watched the match between Qatar and Yemen team.”
