Bangladesh got a scare before the Test series against South Africa as the inform opener Tamim Iqbal suffered a muscle pull on the first day of the three-day warm-up clash against Cricket South Africa Invitational XI in Benoni yesterday.
Tamim began with a four but lasted just 13 balls to make five before the injury forced him to retire. However a BCB official said the injury is not serious and some rest could make the opener completely fit ahead of the first Test.
Tamim has played in 51 Tests for the Bangladesh and averages just under 40.
He was particularly influential in the first Test win over Australia in Dhaka last month where his scores of 71 and 78 helped set up a famous victory for his side.
The first Test between South Africa and Bangladesh gets underway on September 28 in Potchefstroom while the second Test will be played in Bloemfontein from October 6.
