Seminar on Selected Cardioactive Herbal Drugs held at DU
A seminar titled “Evaluation of Safety and Efficacy at Cellular & Molecular Level of Selected Cardioactive Herbal Drugs Available in Bangladesh” was held on the campus of Dhaka University (DU) in Dhaka yesterday.
DU Pharmaceutical Chemistry department organised the programme at the seminar room of Center for Advanced Research in Sciences aimed at promoting higher education, said a press release here. Dhaka University (DU) Vice-chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman attended the programme as the chief guest while Pro-project Management Professor Md Abdur Rashid presided over it.
Pro-project D S P M Professor Dr M Shah Amran gave the welcome speech at the function. Director of Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) and Additional Secretary Dr Gauranga Chandra Mohanta ndc, Dean of Pharmacy faculty Professor SM abdur Rahman, Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department Chairman Professor M Mehedi Masud and Teachers and Students of different departments of this faculty were present at the function, among others, the release added.
Seminar on Right to Information Act held at JU
A seminar titled ‘Right to Information Act-2009: Public Awareness’ was held at the Jahangirnagar University campus here on Wednesday.
Information Commission in association with JU Government and Politics department (G&P) as well as Student Welfare and Counseling centre organised the programme at Zahir Raihan Auditorium on the campus. About at 10.30 am, JU Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Farzana Islam inaugurated the programme as chief guest while Information Commissioner Professor Dr Khurshida Begum addressed the function as key note speaker.
Addressing the function, Information Commissioner Professor Khurshida Begum said, ‘People have rights to know about public properties. Authorities are compelled to release any type of information in this regard’. Former member of Public Service commission Professor Dr. Sharif Enamul Kabir, Pro VC Professor Abul Hossain (Academic), Pro VC (Administration) Professor Amir Hussain and Treasurer Professor Sheikh Manzurul Huq were addressed the function as special guest among others while Advisor of Student Welfare and Counseling Center Professor Dr. Rasheda Akhter presided it.
Teachers and Students of different departments took part at the function.
EWU welcomes Fresher’s in Fall Semester 2017
The orientation programmes of the newly admitted students for fall Semester 2017 were held in different academic programmes of East West University (EWU) campus at Aftabnagar, Dhaka recently, says a press release.
Nearly 1000 students were admitted to graduate and undergraduate programmes in 14 different departments this semester. Each Department of EWU arranged individual programmes for their newly admitted students. The objective of the programmes was to welcome new students and introduce them to university facilities, faculty members, the academic system and the rules and regulations of the institution.
Those programmes were attended by Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of Board of Trustees (BoT), EWU and former governor of Bangladesh Bank, Syed Manzur Elahi, member, Board of Trustees, EWU, Professor Dr MM Shahidul Hassan, Vice-chancellor, Professor Dr Fakrul Alam, Pro Vice-chancellor and the deans of the university. Speakers welcomed the Freshers’ to the EWU campus and encouraged them to try to work harder and be worthy citizens of the country. They also urged the newly admitted students to make the best use of university resources and emphasize the need for higher ethical standards.
Virtual classroom launched at BRUR
RANGPUR: A modernized virtual classroom with digitized ICT-facilities was launched on the second floor of the Academic Building No-2 at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) here on Sunday.
The Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project of University Grants Commission extended financial support in setting up of the virtual classroom, a press release said.
Vice-chancellor (VC) of BRUR Professor Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah inaugurated the virtual classroom at a ceremony arranged on the occasion.
Dean of the Faculty of Sciences Professor Dr Tazul Islam, Professor of the Department of Mathematics Dr RM Hafizur Rahman and Proctor Professor Dr Abu Kalam Md Farid Ul Islam, among others, were present. Launching of the virtual classroom will help the university authorities conduct examinations, seminars, meetings and other events on the campus. After inauguration of the virtual classroom, Bangladesh National Scientific and Technical Documentation Centre (BANSDOC) organised a seminar there on attaining experience about various research works and services of the organisation.
JU Rover Scout gets new committee
SAVAR: The Rover Scout of Jahangirngar University (JU) unit announced a 10-member new executive body for the next one year.
Nowsad Nabil of History Department and Sabbir Ahmed of Mathematics Department were selected yesterday as Senior Rover Mate (President) and Assistant Senior Rover Mate (Secretary) respectively, said a press release here yesterday. Associate Prof Dr Khandaker Shamim Ahmed of Bangla Department announced the committee at the annual camp of the organisation at Jahir Raihan Auditorium on the campus, the release added.
The other executive members are: Organizing Secretary Abu Nahian, Office Secretary Asadullah Al Galib, Publicity Affairs Secretary Khalilur Rahman, IT Secretary Amirul Islam, Literature Secretary Tuhin Reza, Media Secretary Nil and Publication Secretary Sazid.
