President Abdul Hamid on Thursday assented to two bills passed in the 17th session of the 10th parliament, reports UNB.
The bills are Code of Civil Procedure (Amendment) Bill, 2017 and Acquisition and Requisition of Immovable Property Bill, 2017, said a Parliament Secretariat handout.
On September 12 last, Parliament passed the Code of Civil Procedure (Amendment) Bill 2017 aiming to empower courts to refer some disputes to legal aid officers to ease the pressure on the overburdened court system.
The government brought amendment to the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 so that a court will have the authority to send a legal suit to a Legal Aid Officer for alternative solution before starting hearing in a case.
The Legal Aid Officers are assigned to give assistance to the litigants under the Legal Aid Services Act-2000.
