KCC councillor�s son shot dead

Assailants shot dead the son of a female councillor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) at Daulatpur in the city last night.
The victim was identified as Nazrul Islam (28), son of Shahida Begum, councillor from the KCC reserved seat-2.
Inspector Shafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Daulatpur Police Station, said criminals gunned down Nazrul in Pagla Fokir Para area around 10:45pm. He sustained several bullets from point-blank range and was killed on the spot.
Talking to The Independent over phone, Mafiur Rahmam, brother-in-law of the victim, said Nazrul assaulted a local youth a couple of days ago and that the killing might have taken place because of the melee.
According to the police, Nazrul—an activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League-- was wanted in several criminal cases.
