11 child acrobats sent to China for training

Ministry of Cultural Affairs of China, Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh and Ministry of Cultural Affairs of Bangladesh and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) have jointly taken an initiative to give training to 20 students and two trainers on acrobatic at the Beijing International Arts School in Beijing, China.

As a part of the initiate, a group of 10 children and one trainer will be sent to China for the training next month. Led by acrobatics trainer Jalal Uddin, 10 children --Keya Akter Pakhi, Khushi Akter Khuku, Riya Khatun, Farzana Yasmin, Md Amin Mondol, Khandakar Rakibul Islam, Mohammad Munna Hossain, Sakib Khan, Gazi Hafizur and Faisal Hossain--will leave the country for training next month.

Earlier, an acrobatic team of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) consisting 10 child acrobats, led by acrobatics trainer Sanjay Kumar Bhoumik, was sent to China for a one-year acrobatic training programme last year. After taking their training, the team returned to the home July 18 this year.

To welcome the trained group and to see off another group, a programme was organised at the Studio Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on September 17, where Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor was present as chief guest. Presided over by BSA Secretary Jahangir Hossain Chowdhury, BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky and Chinese ambassador in Bangladesh Ma Ming Chiang were present as special guests.

The programme also featured discussion, video projection and acrobatic show by the trained acrobatic troupe.

On the other hand, a Chinese troupe consists of nine members and a trained acrobatic troupe of BSA will present acrobatic shows at the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka on September 25 at 7:30pm, Motijheel Government Girls School on September 26 at 11am, and National Theatre Hall of BSA on September 27 at 7pm.
