All Bangladeshis to enjoy internet facility by 2021, says Palak
State minister for ICT Division said 28 Hi-Tech Parks are being build across the country, in which 200 thousand youths can develop their career

State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak has reiterated governments commitment to bring all the people of the country under internet facility by 2021, reports BSS.
Bangladesh has one million internet workers and currently, we are second in terms of supplying online labourers according to the oxford university report. We have a very specific target to create two million jobs in ICT sector within the next three years.
With our different sorts of initiatives and projects, we will be able connect cent per cent people to internet connectivity by 2021, he said.
Palak came up with the observations while addressing a panel discussion of the World Economic Forums (WEFs) Impact Summit at the Wharton Forum Plenary Hall in New York on Tuesday.
Facilitated by Njideka Harry, Minister for Youth and ICT of Rwanda Jean Philbert Nsengimana, Minister of State for ICT of Pakistan Anusha Rahman Khan and CEO of Turkcell kaan Terzioglu addressed the panel discussion, among others.
We are building 28 Hi-Tech Parks across Bangladesh, in which 200 thousand youths can develop their career. Along with this, 40 per cent of public services is being delivered through digital manner and by 2021, we are planning to uplift this to 90 per cent. For that reason, internet connectivity is pretty much needed for building Digital Bangladesh and inclusive development, he added.
Palak also said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has declared the vision 2021, the year when we will celebrate the golden jubilee of our independence. To achieve the target of becoming middle-income status by 2021, weve identified four pillars-human resource development, providing internet connectivity to all, e-governance and industry promotion-to build a Digital Bangladesh.
In the last eight and half years, we have taken a lot of initiatives to provide the internet connectivity to all. In the last three years, we have connected all the government offices to a single government intra-network and now we are working to roll out the broadband connectivity up to the rural areas through Info Sarker-3 and Connected Bangladesh programme, he said.
