A court in Dhaka yesterday issued warrant for the arrest of Ganajagaran Manch spokesperson Imran H Sarkar and cultural activist Sanatan Ullash in a defamation case filed for their derogatory remarks about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, reports UNB.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sheikh Samidul Islam passed the order as the duo did not appear before the court yesterday. Earlier, on May 31, a Dhaka court summoned Imran H Sarkar and Sanatan Ullash in the case. Bangladesh Chhatra League leader Golam Rabbani filed the case against the duo with the court on the same day.
According to the case statement, Imran and Sanatan chanted defamatory slogans against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on May 27 over the removal of the statue of Lady Justice from the Supreme Court premises.
