Customs officials seized 20 gold bars worth about Tk one crore from a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka yesterday, reports UNB.
Tipped off, a team of customs intelligence conducted a raid in BG flight-087, which landed at the airport from Malaysia at 6:30am, said Dr Moinul Khan, director general of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID).
At one stage of search, the team recovered two packets wrapped with black, yellow and brown colours adhesive tape from beneath a seat, which remained vacant, in the flight, he added.
Later, the team recovered 20 gold bars weighing two kilograms worth about Tk one crore from the packets.
