RANGPUR: Preparations are nearing completion to celebrate the five- day Durga Puja, the great religious festival of the Hindu community, with due religious fervour and solemnity in the district, reports BSS.
Beginning from Tuesday, the festival will end on September 30 next through celebration of Bijoya Dashami with immersion of the idols of Goddess Durga, district administration officials and leaders of Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad (BPUP) here said.
The Puja mandaps are being decorated now with eye-catching looks and the district, upazila and police administrations and law enforcement agencies have taken adequate security measures to ensure peaceful celebration of the festival.
The district administration has allocated 434.50 tonnes of rice allocated by the government for distribution of 500 kilogram rice among each of the Puja mandaps erected in the district to assist the Hindu community celebrate the festival.
