RAJSHAHI: Around 2,000 school dropouts including 1,082 girls and 25 transgender were given technical skill development training for making them worthy citizens in the city, reports BSS.
BRAC, an international development organisation based in Bangladesh, under its ‘Skill Development Programme’ provided the training on different need-based trades and facilitated their post-training job scopes.
The information was disclosed at a workshop styled “Skill Development and Job Placement for the Dropout Adolescents” held at the conference hall of Divisional Commissioner here yetserday.
BRAC organised the workshop in association with the commissioner office discussing ways and means on how to transform the dropouts into skilled human resources and income-generators.
Divisional Commissioner Nur-Ur-Rahman addressed the workshop as the chief guest with Additional Commissioner Aminul Islam in the chair.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Rajshahi Helal Mahmud Sharif, BRAC District Representative Jahedul Islam and Area Manager (Skill Development) Utpal Kumar Biswash also spoke.
