Workshop at Southeast University
A workshop on the establishment of Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) was held recently at Southeast University (SEU). Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of SEU organised the workshop where head of Quality Assurance Unit of Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) under UGC Professor Dr Mesbahuddin Ahmed was present as chief guest. Quality assurance specialist of HEQEP Professor Dr. Sanjoy Kumar Adhikary and Senior Operations Officer of the World Bank Dr. Md. Mokhlesur Rahman were present at the programme as special guests, while Member of Southeast University Trust M. Kamaluddin Chowdhury was present as guest of honour. Vice Chancellor of Southeast University Professor Anwar Hossain chaired the programme, while Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Humayun Kabir Chowdhury delivered vote of thanks and Director of IQAC at SEU Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Hakim delivered the address of welcome.
Considering quality assurance as a continuous process, speakers at the workshop opined that IQAC would enhance the capacity of private universities in Bangladesh in case of providing quality education. Mentioning HEQEP as a trend setter, Dr. Md. Mokhlesur Rahman said, World Bank is engaged in helping its stakeholders in Bangladesh for ensuring sustainable development at higher education sector. Professor Dr Mesbahuddin Ahmed said, the government is willing to form a Quality Assurance Act, under which, a Quality Assurance Commission may be formed, from where, educational institutions may get their accreditation. Professor Anwar Hossain said that SEU had introduced its Internal Quality Assurance Cell before the concept was initiated at the national level. He added that HEQEP support would further strengthen SEUs effort to enhance quality of education. Speakers at the workshop expressed their strong position toward quality education for ensuring successful career for the students.
