Development Studies Department Organises Training Programme at DU
A 12-day long training programme on Financial and Economic Analysis jointly organised by the Department of Development Studies of Dhaka University (DU) and Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations held at the Arts Building of the University, says a press release.
Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University, Professor Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique, inaugurated the training programme as chief guest. Chairman of the Department of Development Studies of DU, Professor Dr. Abu Eusuf presided over the function, while Chief Technical Adviser of Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations, Dr. John Ryder addressed it as special guest. Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, Professor Dr. Taibur Rahman of DU and other FAO team members were present on this occasion.
DU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique urged the government officials to frame working plan and implement it immediately through hard work. He said, government officials must have a clear vision to fulfil the expectations of general public. They need to gather knowledge of analysis oriented tools and techniques to cultivate professional approaches in this regard, the VC added.
He also called upon the professionals to remain accountable for accomplishing the objectives of the projects. He hoped that the training programme would help enhance the skills of professionals.
Dhaka Universitys Department of Development Studies organised this programme to create trained and skilled manpower to deal with development projects under the government and non-government sectors. A total of 20 officials from the Ministry of Agriculture participated in the training programme.
