Bangladesh Theatre will stage the 264th show of its sixth production ‘Sea-Morog’ today evening at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), Segun Bagicha in the capital. The play ‘Sea-Morog’ focuses to portray a crystal clear image of eternal rural Bangla through simple yet interesting stage acts. Written by Asadullah Faraizee and directed by Humayun Kabir, ‘Sea-Morog’ is a comedy play, which makes satires on rural problems like ignorance, superstition, religious bigotry and so on. The story of the play revolves around Bajal Sardar, an influential person in the village of Baghabari where Hindu and Muslim community used to live in peace. Sardar, by chance, finds a homeless rooster on a stormy night while returning home from the marketplace.
This simple incident changes the fortune of Sardar radically. The good omen that the rooster brings with it is extraordinary and very prosperous for Sardar. Whatever venture he undertakes, he comes out successful.
But, the wonder rooster gets lost one day. At his utter surprise, Sardar notices that his good luck is also gone at the loss of the rooster. He engages his every power to get trace of the rooster. However, all his attempts fall into despair.
One day, one of his disciples gives Sardar news that a few feathers of the rooster have been found near a Hindu house. At this, a religious leader advises Sardar to operate genocide in the Hindu community as they are thought to be the slaughterer of the animal. This is how the play goes forward, depicting a peaceful village turning into a dreadful massacre.
The probable cast of the play includes Khondokar Shah Alam, Sharif Mahmud, Mujibur Rahman, Miraj Hossain, Rafiq Ullah, Masuda, Akhtar Mahmud, Nasiruddin, Rezaur Rahman, Delwar Hossain and Firoz Khan, among others, in different characters.
