646 puja mandaps erected in Jessore

JESSORE: Devotees of the Hindu Community is now preparing with much enthusiasm in eight upazilas of the district to celebrate Durga puja. There would be 646 puja mandaps in the district, reports BSS.
Idol-makers are passing busy time for making and colouring idols of the Goddess Durga.
District Puja Udjapon Committee Secretary Dipankar Das Ratan said almost 85 percent works of the idols had already been completed and all the works would be completed within next five days. The works of pandel had also begun in the mandaps, he added.
District Administration and Puja Udjapon Committee sources said, Durga puja will be held in 646 mandaps in the district.
Of them 143 mandaps erected in Sadar upazila,122 mandaps erected in Abhaynagar upazila, 89 mandaps erected in Monirampur upazila, 90 mandaps erected in Keshabpur upazila, 83 mandaps erected in Bagherpara upazila, 42 mandaps erected in Chaugachha upazila, 50 mandaps erected in Jhikargacha upazila and 27 mandaps erected in Sharsha upazila.
People have already started visiting different mandaps in the town,upazila headquarters and rural areas of the district with great festivity. Admistration was taking special security measures for ensuring safe,secured,colourful and peaceful celebrations of the puja festival.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Anisur Rahman told BSS that they would maintain strict security measures during the puja all over the district.
Hindu community peoples are buying new dresses for their near and dear ones. The puja will begin on September 26.
