Criminal arrested with arms

Munshiganj: Police arrested an alleged terrorist along with a shutter gun from Malipathor area of Sadar upazila yesterday morning, reports UNB.

The arrestee was identified as Arif, alias Baba Arif, 35, son of Julhas Bepari at Mireswarai village.

Saiful Islam, officer-in-charge of Munshiganj Sadar Police Station, said that a gang of robber including Arif tried to rob a current net-laden pickup van in the area around 6:00 am. At one stage, the people of the pick-up van started to scream.

Hearing their screaming, hundreds of villagers rushed in and caught Arif while others managed to flee away.

Later, the angry mob beat him, leaving injured.

On information, police rescued injured Arif from the spot and recovered the shutter gun from his possession.

Arif was accused in eight cases including robbery, said the OC.
