Former Bangladesh captain Mohammad Ashraful, who was playing the ongoing National Cricket League (NCL) for Dhaka Metro, sidelined for the next one week with dengue fever.
Ashraful himself confirmed the news to this reporter while he was appeared in Mirpur to see BCB physicians after returning Dhaka from Chittagong yesterday.
The 32-year-old former captain said that doctors advised him to take rest for the next one week.
“I played the opening day of the league with light fever. At night when I felt fever of 103-4 degree, I didn’t then go to play in the next day. That day I approached to doctors and did some tests as per their suggestion whose later confirmed me of dengue fever,” said Mohammad Ashraful.
“The intensity of such fever will continue for the next few days. Then it will gradually be lessened. And so, doctors told me to take some days rest. May be it costs me for the next round game of the league,” Ashraful said.
Last year Ashraful though played some games at domestic circuit after the redemption from domestic embargo could not perform his genuine game as he did throughout his career.
But this time he smashed century (104) against Chittagong Division. This was his 19th century in first class cricket. His 194-ball innings was laced with full dozen boundaries and two sixes.
