Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will soon form Bangladesh ‘A’ Team with the players of BCB-High Performance (HP) Unit for the upcoming home series against Ireland ‘A’ Team.
AEM Kawsar, manager of BCB Game Development, stated this to media at the Lounge of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) yesterday.
The need-based HP Team, who is currently in England on their two-week-long tour, will return home today after completing their eight-match series against the different County Clubs’ teams.
“Basically Ireland ‘A’ team will play against Bangladesh ‘A’ Team. Cricket Operation Committee will soon inform the matter. The team will be formed from the players of the HP unit,” said AEM Kawsar.
“Here HP is a platform of training, whereby players got their last practice opportunity before stepping into international stage. We gave them two types of training opportunity, the first of it, games at overseas condition against overseas teams and the second one is playing against overseas teams at home turf,” Kawsar told media.
“We’ve sent our HP team first in Darwin in Australia and then in England. Now they will play against Ireland at home yard,” he added.
Ireland ‘A’ Team is scheduled to arrive here in Bangladesh on October 7 to play two different formats of games. During their tour to Bangladesh, the European side will play a four-day along with five-match one-day series against the home side.
On the other hand, Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket Team will leave Dhaka for Sylhet to play a bilateral home series against Afghanistan today. Afghanistan is slated to arrive here in Bangladesh on September 25
The series comprised of five one-day matches, starting from September 28. The first four matches of the series will be held at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium (SICS). The fifth and final match will be played at the SBNCS on October 7.
Before going into the series, the youth Tigers will play two practices against Sylhet Divisional XI at the SICS on September 22 and 24 respectively.
