SYLHET: A college student was stabbed to death allegedly by some of his friends on Madan Mohan College campus in the city yesterday afternoon.
The victim was Abdul Alim, 19, a class XII student of the college. He was a resident of Shilam village in the Dakshin Surma upazila.
Police said Alim had an altercation with some of his classmates over a trifling matter on the campus on Tuesday while they were gossiping.
On Wednesday, a group of his friends numbering 7 to 8 stabbed Alim with knife while he was on second floor on the college, leaving him critically injured.
He was rushed to Osmani Medical College Hospital where he died after half an hour. Sohel Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Kotwali police station, said police are trying to arrest the killers.
