Dr Nesar made new dean at IU Arts faculty
Dr Nesar Uddin, Professor of Arabic Language and literature department of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia has been made the new dean of Arts and Social Science faculty of the university.
IU registrar in charge S M Abdul Latif said the university vice chancellor Profssor Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari appointed Dr Nesar Uddin to the post for the next two years. He replaced Prof Dr M Habibur Rahman of Bangla department.
Dr Nesar took charge in a function at his office around 12:00pm.
Seminar on ‘Bangladeshi Media of the 21st Century: juncture and Chances’ at CU
Institute of Social Sciences Research of Chittagong University (CU) yesterday arranged a seminar on ‘Bangladeshi Media of the 21st Century: juncture and Chances’ at its Fine Arts Institute conference room on Badsha Mia Road in Chittagong.

Professor Dr Farid Uddin Ahmad, director of Institute of Social Sciences Research and dean of Social Science faculty presided over the seminar while Professor Dr Mahibul Aziz of Bangla department, Professor Dr Mahfuz Parvez of Political Science department and Professor Dr Mohammad Shahid Ullah of Communication and Journalism department spoke in the seminar.
MoU signed between JU and BLAST
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Jahangirnagar University (JU) and Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST) recently on the campus.
JU Treasurer Professor Dr Manjurul Huq and Trusty Advocate of BLAST Z I Khan signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions at the counseling room of JU registrar building about at 2 pm. Under this MoU the teachers and students of JU will provide legal aid service to the marginalised communities and a ‘Law Clinic Course’ will be conducted by them for providing legal aid advice to the general people. This MoU will be valid for the next four years.
JU Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Farzana Islam, Chairman of Law and Justice Department K M Sazzad Mohsin and other teacher of the department were present at the MoU signing function among others.
Workshop on 'Self-Assessment' held at IU
ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY: A workshop titled 'Awareness building strategies for Self- Assessment' was held at the Islamic University in Kushtia recently.
IU Al-Hadith and Islamic Studies Department in association with Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organised the workshop at the Arts Faculty building of the university around 11:00am. IU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr M Harun-Ur- Askari addressed the workshop as the chief guest while its Pro-VC Prof Dr M Shahinoor Rahman and Treasurer Prof Dr M Selim Toha were present as the special guests with the departmental chairman Prof Dr Muhammad Nasir Uddin, in the chair.
CVASU teachers, students to receive training opportunity in Indian university
CHITTAGONG: The teachers and students of Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) will get opportunity to receive training on Wildlife Health and Management in an Indian university.
Teachers and students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine will avail this training from Assam Agricultural University (AAU), India for at least one month every year.
Vice-chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Goutam Buddha Das disclosed this in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing function with AAU at the conference room of CVASU administrative building this morning.
CVASU VC and AAU VC Prof KM Bujarbaruah inked the MoU on behalf of their respective universities. As per the MoU, both the universities will also exchange research materials, publications and information and run joint research activities.
Dean of AAU Veterinary Medicine Faculty of Prof RN Goswami, Prof ProbodhBorah of AAU Biotechnology Department, Dean of CVASU Veterinary Medicine Faculty Prof M Abdul Halim, Dean of Faculty of Fisheries Prof Mohammad Nurul Absar Khan, dean of the Faculty of Food Science and Technology Prof M Raihan Faruk and registrar Mirza Faruk Imam, among others, were present at the programme.
Wadhwani foundation head meets UGC chairman
Head of Wadhwani foundation, a US-based organisation, (South East Asia) Preeti Singh recently paid a courtesy call on UGC Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan at the latter's office. UGC Secretary Md Khaled and Wadhwani foundation Programme Manager Khandoker Abu Jafor Md Saleh was present during the meeting, among others, said a press release here.
During the meeting, Preeti Singh said Wadhwani foundation is willing to introduce entrepreneurship programme in higher educational institutions of Bangladesh for enhancing entrepreneurial skills of university students of the country, the release added.
Welcoming the delegation, Professor Mannan termed the proposal placed by Preeti Singh as positive and said that it would help for development of entrepreneurial skills of students of higher educational institutions of Bangladesh and play a vital role for socio-economic development of the country, the release added.
