5 get life term for murder

A court yesterday convicted five people and sentenced them to life term imprisonment for killing a farmer in 2008.
The convicts are-Shamsuddin, Fazlar Rahman, Ashraf Ali, Bisharu Mamud, Rafiqul Islam of Gomnati village in Domar upazila.
The court also fined Tk10,000 each, in default, to suffer six months more rigorous imprisonment.
According to the prosecution, police recovered the body of Lutfur Rahman, 50, a farmer, from near a pond at Dakshin Balapara village in Dimla upazila on February 16, 2008.
Ambia Khatun, wife of the victim, filed a case accusing eight people, including the five convicts, with Domar police station. After examining the records and witnesses, Additional District and Sessions Judge Mahabubul Alam handed down the verdict.
