3 bodies found in Gazipur

Three bodies were recovered in separate incidents in Gazipur yesterday. Sub-inspector of Kaliakoir police station Safiul Alam said hanging body of a female college student was recovered from a house at Harinhati village in Kaliakoir upazila yesterday afternoon. She was identified as Joti Akter, 19, eleventh grade student of Bhasha Shahid Abdul Jabber School and College at Shafipur Ansar Academy in Gazipur, and wife of Mahbubur Rahman of the area.
Police said, local people found the body of Joti hanging from the ceiling fan in her bed room and informed police.
Police said the body bore several marks of injuries. It is suspected that she might have been killed and later the body was hanged from the ceiling fan.
Victim’s father Zahidul Islam claimed that her daughter might have been killed over family feud. However, police detained victim’s husband and his elder brother Masud Rana’s wife Badrunnahar Beauty for interrogation.
On the other hand, body of a businessman was found hanging from a mango tree near his house at Barmi Bazaar in Sreepur upazila yesterday morning, after a day of his missing. He was identified as Sohag, 25.
Sub-inspector of Sreepur model police station Sohorawardi said Sohag went out from his house to go to his work place on Tuesday at around 10 am and remained missing. Local people found the body of Sohag hanging from a mango tree yesterday morning and informed police.
Police suspected that criminals might have killed Sohag and later hanged the body. Sohag’s father filed a case with Sreepur police station in this connection.
In another incident, a child slipped into a water body and drowned while he was playing with other children near his house at Uttar Khamer village in Kapasia upazila. He was identified as Rifat, 6, son of Borhan Uddin.
