At least 25 people were injured in a clash between two factions of Chhatra League in the district town yesterday afternoon. The injured were admitted to Thakurgaon sadar hospital and different clinics of the town.
Police said a group of BCL brought out a procession at 11.30 am as part of the central programme demanding that the absconding killers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman should be brought back and executed immediately. When the procession was passing the deputy commissioner office and reached near the district Awami League office another group of BCL activists locked into a clash with them. During the clash both the groups exchanged brick bats.
OC of Thakurgaon police station AKM Mehdi Hasan said police hurled several rounds of rubber bullets to control the situation.
25 people were injured in the incident, said local people.
Police brought the situation under control. Additional police were deployed in the town to avoid untoward incident, the OC said.
