CCC to introduce traffic automation

Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) authorities will introduce a traffic automation system to ease traffic congestion in the port city. CCC mayor AJM Nasir Uddin disclosed the above information at a coordination meeting on planned development of the city held at the CCC’s conference hall yesterday.
CCC arranged the meeting with the development partners and government agencies, first of its kind in the corporation’s 25 years of history. Representatives from 28 government and non-government organisations attended the co-ordination meeting where they vowed to help the CCC authorities to expedite the development work in the city. The meeting was presided over CCC mayor AJM Nasir Uddin.
The mayor said it is impossible to ensure civic facilities to the city dwellers if there is no integrated and coordinated efforts among various government, semi-government, development partners and other agencies which are responsible for the development of the city.
He also said that for the sake of development of the city and to ensure civic services none would be given any special treatment how powerful he or she may be. In the question of the city development no political colour or identity would be taken into consideration, he added.“The city belongs to all of us; the expected development of the city will not be possible without coordination of all the agencies,” he observed.
“When I took the charge of the corporation, it was in a miserable condition. I hope if all of you help me sincerely, we can fulfill the expectation of the city dwellers,” said Nasir. Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) is going to introduce traffic automation system in the city to ease the traffic congestion.
The mayor wanted help from the Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) to introduce the traffic automation system.Abdus Salam, chairman of Chittagong Development Authority, said they have to work on priority basis for a beautiful and clean city. “We have to save the dwellers from water logging,” said Salam.
“If we can succeed in main three agenda as to make a clean and beautiful city and can save the city dwellers from water logging, the other agenda will be easy to implement,” he added.“The master plan which was formulated in 1995 had 12 recommendations to free the city from water logging but none of the recommendations has been implemented yet,” he commented.
