‘PM awakens world conscience about Rohingya’

Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Chief Whip ASM Feroze yesterday said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has awakened the world conscience about the Rohingya issue in a bid to resolve the crisis reports BSS.

“Sheikh Hasina urged the world leaders to create pressure on Myanmar for repatriating the Rohingyas, taken shelter in Bangladesh. Responding to her call, they have already condemned the genocide (in Myanmar),” a press release quoted the chief whip as telling a discussion in the capital yesterday.

Asia Chinnamul Manobadhiker Bastobayon Foundation (ACMBF) organized the discussion on 'Rohingya Genocide' at Bangladesh Shishu Kollyan Parishad auditorium.

Feroze said the Myanmar military has been killing innocent people, including children and women, indiscriminately at the Rakhine state of the country. More than 400,000 Rohingyas have fled to Bangladesh in face of persecution, he added.

ACMBF Chairman Md Dulal Miah presided over the function while Awami League Advisory Council Member Yousuf Hossain Humayun, Justice Siddiqur Rahman, Language Movement veteran Abdul Jalil, Cox's Bazar Development Authority Chairman Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Forkan Ahmmad and ACMBF advisor Poet Muhammad Abdul Khalek addressed the discussion as special guests.
